With the price of large (> 32A) LCD displays diminishing rapidly and new features are added to LCD screens, does it still make sense to companies to buy a projector in front of an LCD screen?
Some of the variables to consider when evaluating this issue are the quality of product, price, quality image, screen size and other considerations. We discuss these and other factors typical of a business perspective of the organization. Read other articles and make your opinion based.
Product Life: LCD TVs or screens often have a backlight life of 30,000 to 60,000 hours (ie if you have the screen for ~ 6 hours each day, the backlight will run for 16 years). Even then, the backlight can be replaced in most LCD screens. A projection lamp typically lasts for 2,000 hours.
Price considerations: A basic projector can find for Rs 25,000. However, if the projector is to be used for video conferencing or presentation of a boardroom, a high resolution, contrast ratio and good projector color saturation would be needed. The cost of this projector is close to EUR 1 lakh. Thereafter, they need to factor in price of lamp projection and projection screens. A typical projection lens needs to be replaced almost every year one or two bulbs cost Rs 20,000 + per bulb. We added the costs over a period of five years to compare a projector facing an LCD (see chart below). With 46 bis "LCD TV or display costing around Rs 135,000-R 150,000 and falling, the price becomes less of an issue when considering buying a projector or LCD
Figure: Total Cost of Ownership Comparison vs. LCD Projector Screen
Cost of capital base for the projector device is INR 70,000 and that of an LCD is INR 150,000, Projection Screen Cost of capital (Wall Mounted Screens INR 5-15K) is Rs 10,000, the cost of consumables projector is 20,000 x 3 = INR 60.000, consumable life of a projector is 2,000 hours and an LCD display is 60,000 hours and the cost of ownership of a projector is Rs.140, 000 / – and Rs.150, 000 / – for an LCD.
Suppose: 5 years of use per day @ 5 has ~ 6600hrs of use. This translates to 4 lamps at 5 years requiring the customer to buy 3 lamps, plus 1 supplied with the machine.
What is clear from the previous figure 46a is a full HD " LCD screen is, at best, only slightly more expensive than XGA Projector ~ 2500AL. The additional costs of low cost on-screen installation and reduce costs of loss are purely additional device.
Picture Quality: DLP projectors use a projector or LCD glass panels combining red, green and blue create the image. When sitting near the screen, the viewer can see different colors on the edges of an image, described as the rainbow effect. The rainbow effect removed from the image quality and can give headaches. High-end projectors have been able to reduce the rainbow effect, but the problem remains high and these projectors more expensive. LCD TV or LCD screens have no rainbow effect problems and the picture quality is good at close range.
Rather, projectors can not be compared with the image quality of an LCD. The vividness of the colors, the contrast ratio, color saturation and sharpness of the image are much better for a larger screen a projector. When viewing a projected image, particularly in ambient light, the viewer has to dim the lights or close the curtains, unless the company has acquired even more light more expensive projector. Not true with LCD displays, such as brightness and color quality is much better.
Viewing angles used to be a problem with LCD screens, but this issue is no longer true. Most LCD screens can be seen up to 176 degrees.
Dead or Stuck Pixels projectors can suffer from dead pixels and LCD screens can suffer from stuck pixels. Both dead pixels and stuck pixels result in white spots on the projected image. However, both manufacturers Technologies have worked hard to minimize these issues and in most cases they provide a guarantee against such issues.
Size Screen: A common thought is that the screen size is not a problem for most projectors that thought is that the image of the projector can make more by moving the projector screen. This is not true as the picture quality deteriorates as the image becomes larger. With projectors, most buyers choose a maximum image size projector optimized 76-inch 120-inch projection image of the actual work is much less than normal use. Today These days, if companies need a large LCD screen on the maximum size of the image projector, a wide variety of LCD displays competition can be found in this range.
Portability: Projectors are easy to carry and move. For a business this could be a value added or a handicap. Screens LCDs are durable and can be moved but they are not as light projectors.
Power consumption: power consumption of the projector can vary to more than one unit to another conference with bright projectors that require more power than the smaller portable projectors. It is difficult to compare two technologies in this performance parameter.
Connectivity: Most LCD monitors have more and different types of ports that the projectors. As a result of more types of devices can be connected to an LCD projector.
Other Value Added Features: The new features are appearing in the LCD displays could be very valuable for businesses. For example, it has touch screen LCD displays to allow the LCDs to be used as whiteboards, where the data written on the screen can easily get captured electronically in a text document.
